Summer Classes at Helena Community Center
Express your artistic side and develop new skills at the Helena Community Center this summer. Classes run from June 1st to July 31st unless otherwise indicated. The deadline for registration is May 15th. For questions about the programs, please call Lily Reeves at 555-2849.
Basic Sketching Irene Klein teaches you the basics of sketching including techniques for shading, perspective, and using color to heighten the drama of your work. -Mondays, 1-4 p.m. -Cost: $160
Advanced Sketching Paul Cooke leads this class, which covers advanced techniques such as sketching human figures. Participants must have intermediate drawing skills. Please provide a portfolio of your work upon registration in order to be accepted into the class. -Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m. -Cost: $175
Watercolor Painting Participants will learn how to create beautiful landscape paintings with Zachary Price. He’ll give tips on choosing the right brush, creating shadow effects, and using various brushstrokes. -Wednesdays & Fridays, 4-6 p.m. -Cost: $250
Nature Drawing This one-day outing led by Kyle Aston will help you infuse more nature into your art. Participants will visit Plank National Park and create paintings of the beautiful scenery around them. Materials and a sack lunch will be provided. A chartered bus will leave from the community center at 8 a.m. Please be sure to have your photo ID with you for entrance to the park. -Saturday, June 16th 8 a.m.-4 p.m. -Cost: $30
