The Reason for Free Movie Tickets

There are a lot of good bargains in South Korea. If you keep your eye out, you can usually find good discounts for many products and services. Especially, movie tickets are often given away at a great discount or even for free. So you may wonder, "① when they give away so many tickets?" According to economists, however, it makes good business sense.

Professors of Busan National University recently ② . The paper was made public during an international conference on Korean economics. The Busan University professors said that the important thing for movie theaters is to raise revenue, or to put it more simply, make money.

The revenue can come from ticket sales, but it can also come from other things. Moviegoers often spend money on popcorn, soda and other foods. ③ from the concession stand. Therefore, by selling food and other goods, the theater can end up making a profit ④ .
