Application Process
Non-residents applying for a temporary driver’s license must prepare the following items for submission to one of the country’s 35 testing locations.
1) Current driver’s license from country of origin A current driver’s license from the applicant’s country of origin must be presented and it will be held by the testing location. To retrieve the license, the applicant must present proof of leaving the country (such as a one-way airline ticket).
2) Passport A passport that is valid for at least one year must be presented and will be photocopied and returned.
3) Application fee A non-refundable application fee of $35 in the form of a credit card payment or check should be paid at the time of application.
After the application is submitted, a written exam and an eye test will be conducted first. A driving exam with one of our driving instructors is also required. Applicants can arrange a time for the driving test in advance or stop by a test location and take the test on a first come, first served basis. We recommend making an appointment, as these applicants are given first priority. If all exams are passed successfully, the license will be issued on the same day, and it may take up to an hour to process. Please note that bringing two 2”x 3” photos is no longer necessary, since our digital camera can be used on site.
