Pharma-Max Recalls Sleeping Aid Pills
January 30—Pharmaceutical giant Pharma-Max announced today that it is recalling 500,000 packages of sleeping aid pills due to a container sealing error. The recall affects product numbers 1045-1673 of the drug Triptophen. According to a company spokesperson reporting from the headquarters in Los Angeles, the pills were shipped in good condition from the company’s manufacturing plant in Kerula to the packaging facility in Mumbai. At that point, an error occurred in packaging, exposing the pills to light and moisture. Though the exposure is not expected to cause any health problems in those taking the medication, the effectiveness of the medication could be degraded, which violates guidelines set by the Food & Drug Administration in Washington.
Independent distributors have been informed of the situation and are instructed to contact their own vendors so that the product can be removed from the market. Customers who have already purchased products with the above product numbers can return the items to the place of purchase for a full refund. A helpline at 1-800-555-9585 has been set up for consumers to voice their concerns and complaints about the recall. Further Pharma-Max news can be found on their Web site at www.pharmamax.com. |
