Public Speaks out on Jackson Springs Transportation
JACKSON SPRINGS, April 6 — The Department of Transportation conducted a survey last month to get feedback from Jackson Springs’ residents about the public transportation system. The response rate of the survey was high—about 85% of the surveys sent out were returned. The results of the survey demonstrate a need to improve the overall public transportation system, as nearly 70% of people reported having negative experiences with the system. This figure was disappointing to transportation officials who have been working to make conditions better for commuters. However, most participants rated the system as better than it was one year ago, so there are signs of progress. The most common complaint was that the buses ran too infrequently. Other concerns included overcrowding, safety issues, and the cleanliness of the buses. The Department of Transportation’s planning committee will meet on May 3 to discuss changes for the upcoming months, including the possibility of adding bus lines. However, due to budget constraints, it is unlikely that major changes can be made without raising fares. |
