빛나는 조연 배우들 (Supporting Actors Step Into the Spotlight)

The main characters in movies and dramas are supposed to be the stars. But many big South Korean actors and actresses ①____ _____ ______ smaller roles. And they may have stepped out of the spotlight, but they are still getting just as much attention.

Lee Yo-won, for example, may star in the MBC drama "The Great Queen Seondeok," but she has to share the spotlight with popular actress Ko Hyun-joung, who plays the villain in the drama about Korea's first queen. MBC originally offered the principal role of Seondeok to Ko, but she preferred trying her hand at her first villainous character.

"I thought playing a very clear character ②_____ __ ______ for me," Ko said. "I'm breaking out of my original roles, which were balanced and had a certain rhythm. I ③____ __ __ ____ not to lose the viewers' attention."

Actresses Lee Ji-ah and Kim Hye-soo also share the spotlight in the SBS drama "Style," about life in a fashion magazine firm. Lee's status as main character has not stopped viewers from obsessing over Kim's beauty or fashion sense.

"I read on the drama's website that Lee is the main character, but I can't help but follow Kim's every move, probably because she ④__ ___ __ ___ ____ fashionable actresses in Korea," said Kim Min-jung, a fan of "Style."
