	한국사람들은 집 사는 데 큰 돈을 들이나 봐요? In Korea, people put a lot of stock in owning their own homes, don't they?

	네, 한국사람들은 내 집을 장만해 놓고 나면 어느 정도 안정되었다고 느끼죠. Yes. Koreans feel that owning a home brings some measure of security.

	이제 남의 집에 살면서 떠돌지 않아도 되니까요. That's because they no longer have to pay rent to a landlord.

The Treasures of Persia

"The Glory of Persia" is an exhibition of Persian historical relics. It was held in the National Museum of Korea in Seoul. It is at the Daegu National Museum from September 29th until December 21st. Due to the exhibit, interest in the culture of Persia has never been higher.

Iran was once known as Persia. It was one of the world's first great civilizations. German philosopher Friedrich Hegel called the Persians "the first historic people." The Persian Empire rose in the 6th Century B.C., led by Emperor Cyrus the Great. Cyrus and Darius the Great ruled Persia at the height of its empire. ⓐIt reached as far east as India and as far west as North Africa and Greece. During the 5th century, the Persian Empire fought the Greeks. One of these battles became famous due to the movie and comic book "300." The Persian Empire lasted until 333 B.C., when it was conquered by Alexander the Great.

ⓑThe Persians blossomed after the fall of Alexander's empire, mostly because of the Silk Road. The Silk Road was the trade route from China to the Mediterranean Sea that passed through Persia. Persia enjoyed good relations with China during this period. However, it was considered a rival of the Romans, who were also very powerful at this time. In the 7th century A.D., Persia was invaded by Arab Muslims. The combination of Islam and Persian art, science, and culture brought on the Islamic Golden Age.

Persia was ruled by various Islamic leaders until 1935, when Reza Shah officially changed its name to Iran. Persia was famous throughout its history for its carpets and its golden metalwork, among other art. Persia was especially known for its science. Algebra was invented in Persia, and Persian architects were the first to use astronomy, mathematics and geometry to design buildings.
